Resident Birthday Celebrations

We invite groups to provide a birthday celebration for our residents.  The men’s celebration is held the first Saturday of each month; the women’s & children celebrate the second Saturday of each month.  Celebrations are one hour.  Duties include coordinating the celebration and providing food and gifts.  A list of residents and their birth dates is provided.

Green-Thumb Gardener

Do you have what it takes to keep our yard looking fresh?  Raleigh Rescue Mission is looking for 1-3 individuals who love plants and gardening to help us clean out flower beds, trim plants, weed beds, and put mulch in our front yard.  The schedule is flexible, but we are looking for help weekly during the summer and spring months. This is a great opportunity for a small group of friends to do together.

Meal Servers

The Mission provides three nutritious meals a day to our residents and needs volunteers to help.  We invite individuals and/or small groups to help cook, serve and clean up.  We love to have groups serve on a monthly or weekly basis (i.e., breakfast the first Sunday each month or every Sunday morning) but also can have groups come and serve on a one-time basis. Groups can include 4 – 6 people so that the group can work within our kitchen and serving space for our residents.  All meal servers must be at least 16 years of age.

Cleaning Teams

Bring your small group to help clean our Children’s Development Center.  We do this each week to meet Health Department regulations and to keep our children’s center in tip top shape! Volunteer groups are needed on Saturdays each month.  This is a great opportunity for groups of older elementary or middle-school aged children, with adult supervision, to reach out and serve in our community. The time commitment is approximately two hours depending on your group size.  We provide a checklist of cleaning tasks and all cleaning supplies.  (Any age is welcome with adult supervision.)

Mission Vehicle Detailing Teams

Help to keep our Mission vehicles clean.  This is a great opportunity for any age or group size.  Adult supervision for youth under 18 is required.
